VENICE BIENNALE 2021
Lcd has partnered with Caravane Earth, an international foundation based in the netherlands, in order to play a leading role in the venice biennale 2021. we have joined forces for the exhibition of a building specifically designed for communal gatherings and discussions: a Majlis - a traditional meeting place in Arab culture.
Curated by Jury member 2020 Dr. Thierry Morell, the Majlis is designed by world renowned bamboo architects Simón Vélez and Stefana Simic, in collaboration with the women’s collective of weavers from the Boujad Tribe in Morocco. Following Venice, the Majlis and the exhibition will travel to Qatar for an exhibition in Doha in 2022.
Displaying great architectural expertise, the Majlis will also provide a spectacular platform for reflecting on our collective futures on planet Earth - experts from many fields and nations will discuss how we will live together in a world of rapid change and uncertainty.
