The Ultimate Cultural Road Trip
The city of Los Angeles is currently experiencing the one of most rapid, exciting art and culture surges that we’ve seen anywhere, in a long time. Nestled amongst the glamour of Rodeo and Robertson and the hip downtown food scene are a growing number of young, independent galleries and envelope-pushing creative practices, all contributing to a thriving arts district in this liberal and progressive destination.
Starkly different in situation, but equally inspiring, is Marfa, Texas. This small desert town has created its own artistic hub, made up of art foundations, galleries and long-term artist-initiated installations in the distinctive and dramatic landscape. The iconic Elmgreen & Dragset "pop architectural land art project" is here, creating a bizarre but brilliant avant-garde cultural outpost, where the cacti and tumbleweeds find themselves neighbours to Prada and Donald Judd. Unsurprising then, that Marfa has become a place of pilgrimage for the most discerning of cultural enthusiasts.
Leading Culture Destinations is proud to present this unique luxury experience, inviting you to explore both of these incredible cultural destinations and travel through the USA’s breathtaking and diverse landscape. From the Californian coastline, along Route 66, this is the ultimate culture road-trip. You will be accompanied by Arthur Duncan, one of the art community’s most respected art consultants, who will enhance your experience with his unmatched insights. Once home, you will be presented with a unique photographic print of your choice, immortalising the experience.
This trip is one-off and comes in an EDITION OF 1. Like works of art, all our experiences come in editions and just as you would were you to acquire a piece, you will receive a certificate of authentication at the end of your journey.
Arthur Duncan has been working with global collectors of art, design and fine living artists since 1989. He helps collectors by taking them places and transforming how they see things, so when they go home they are newly passionate. Duncan has organised accompanied cultural expeditions for Patrons of the Louvre (Paris), Ullens Center for Contemporary Art (Beijing) and Perez Art Museum (Miami) amongst others. He focuses on authentic experiences through the eyes of discerning and demanding cultural patronage – his ‘currency’ is the vast global network he has built and respects. He hopscotches around the globe achieving the seemingly impossible for his clients. An orchid-strewn Champagne lunch, with a gourmet meal served on top of the Great Wall of China while the world expert on Ming Dynasty ceramics gives a private talk? No problem. A swim with fresh-water pink dolphins in the Amazon? A cinch. But Duncan is no hands-off concierge. A charming companion, he will squire his guests personally and is the perfect guide for the vibrant arts scenes of Los Angeles and Marfa.
